Privacy policy.

This policy explains how Theory Road LLC, which operates SueMyLawyer.org, handles personal information. In short: this site is an attorney advertising and case connection service. If you submit the case review, the point of the site is to pass what you tell us to participating attorneys and law firms so one can contact you. Those attorneys pay us for advertising, and several privacy laws call that kind of sharing a "sale." Submitting is optional, consent to calls and texts is not a condition of a case review, and you can opt out at any time.

What we collect in the case review.

• The kind of case your lawyer handled, such as divorce, personal injury, or an estate.
• What went wrong, and the harm you believe it caused.
• The approximate amount at stake.
• When you discovered the problem.
• Your state.
• Your name, email address, and phone number.
• Anything you choose to write in the free text field.

Please do not include Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, passwords, or medical records. We do not need them.

What we collect automatically.

Your IP address, browser and device information (user agent), the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site, such as a referring page or ad. When you give consent on a form, we keep a consent record: the exact consent text shown to you, its version, a timestamp, your IP address, and your user agent. We keep it as proof of what you agreed to.

Analytics and advertising tools.

We use cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics 4, the Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity, to measure how the site is used, improve it, and measure and target our own advertising. These providers may collect information about your visit, such as pages viewed, clicks, and device details, under their own privacy policies. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used (for example, scrolling and clicks) to help us find problems with the site. You can limit these tools through your browser settings or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal.

How we use it.

To send your case review to one or more participating attorneys, law firms, or their agents; to show you your state's general deadline; to respond to you; to keep records of consent; to prevent fraud and spam; to operate, measure, and improve the site; and to comply with the law.

Sharing and sale.

We share case review submissions with, and may sell them to, participating attorneys and law firms that handle legal malpractice claims, and their agents, such as intake staff and call centers acting for them. We also share information with service providers that run the site for us, such as hosting, databases, email delivery, and analytics. Because participating attorneys pay us for advertising, sending them your submission may be a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect our rights. We do not knowingly sell information about anyone under 16.

Calls and texts.

If you check the consent box and give us your phone number, you agree that SueMyLawyer.org and one or more participating law firms or their agents may call and text that number about your potential legal malpractice claim, including with an automatic telephone dialing system or an artificial or prerecorded voice, even if your number is on a Do Not Call list. Consent is not a condition of receiving a case review or buying anything. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. You can also revoke consent by emailing hello@suemylawyer.org, and we will honor it promptly.

Your privacy rights.

Depending on where you live, including California and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising. You also have the right not to be treated differently for using these rights. To make a request, email hello@suemylawyer.org with the name, email address, and phone number you used. To opt out of sale or sharing, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. We may need to verify your identity before acting. An authorized agent may make a request for you.

Global Privacy Control.

We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for the browser that sends them.

Retention.

We keep case review submissions and consent records for as long as we need them for the purposes above, including keeping proof of consent for the period in which a claim about calls or texts could be brought, and then delete or de-identify them. Participating attorneys who receive your information keep it under their own policies and professional obligations.

Security.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so please share only what the form asks for.

Children.

This site is intended for adults in the United States and is not directed to children under 16.

Other sites.

Our guides link to courts, legislatures, bar associations, and other sources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Changes.

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. Consent records keep the version of the consent language that was in effect when you agreed.
